The health authorities in the Iraqi Nineveh Health City announced today, Wednesday, that 100 deaths were recorded as a preliminary toll as a result of the Hamdaniyah fire accident, and more than 200 others were injured.
The Civil Defense Directorate announced that fire brigades were on alert to control the massive fire that got out of control
The directorate said in a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency, “Civil Defense is mobilizing firefighting teams to control a fire accident that broke out inside an events hall in the Al-Hamdaniya area in Nineveh Governorate.”
The Minister of Health, Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, had directed the alert to provide first aid and treat those injured in the accident immediately and quickly, and he also requested rapid action and intervention from the Civil Defense Forces to rescue the situation.
A statement by the Ministry of Health stated, “Minister of Health, Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, directed the ministry’s departments in Nineveh Governorate and its neighboring departments to be mobilized to aid and treat those injured in the fire accident in Al-Hamdaniya district, and to provide them with health care quickly.”
